No one likes to think of themselves as slaves. Slaves aren’t free, they’re not in control of their life and they are weighed down by heavy chains!

But the truth is that we are all born addicted to doing wrong rather than doing the stuff that pleases God. We’re “slaves to sin” (Romans 6v6).

It doesn’t take long for the chains of drugs, alcohol, violence, sex, money, fear, pride, depression, guilt, pain etc. to grip you up and destroy you. Life without God really is slavery!

Jesus died on the cross to set us free! He broke our chains to bits and says “now you are not a slave”.

But it gets even better! There’s not only freedom at the cross, but adoption into heaven as God’s child! That’s awesome!!!

If you’re a Christian you haven’t got to live in chains any more – you’re free, and you’re in God’s family!
